StarBlade: Operation Blue Planet was a planned arcade game set to be released in 2001 by Namco in Japan and would've used the company's "O.R.B.S" (Over Reality Booster System) arcade cabinet and hardware. The game was meant to be a sequel to the 1991 arcade game StarBlade.

The goal of the game

The player was to control the GeoCalibur Starfighter and destroy the enemy target Megamouth from destroying Earth. The game was meant to be a rail shooter where the player would shoot down enemies in a 3D environment.

Why it was cancelled

  • The arcade cabinet was too expensive to mass produce.

Although the game was cancelled, the O.R.B.S hardware was redesigned for Namco Bandai's "Gundam Pod" arcade games as well as Star Wars Battle Pod.
