Space Jelly, also known as Moon Jelly, was a game in development by Software Creations. It was originally set for a 1997 release for the Nintendo 64. [1]

Plot:[]

In this game, the planet has been taken over by pirate aliens. Set aboard one of their spaceships, your mission is to save the world and take it back from them. The gameplay was said to have platform jumping elements ala Banjo Kazooie.

Development[]

The game was being designed by the Pickford Brothers, who were most infamous for creating Plok for the Super Nintendo.

In 1996, the brothers left Software Creations due to creative disagreements, leading the studio to take over. Software Creations would shop the idea of the game around to various publishers when Nintendo contacted them to be a part of the Nintendo 64 Dream Team menagerie.

Why It Was Cancelled:[]

In 1998, the game was officially shelved. While there hasn't been an official reason given to the games cancellation, some have theorized that the departure of the Pickford Brothers dampered Software Creations' determination for the game, and that their desire to work on other projects outweighed it.

Results[]

Outside of some concept art, nothing else of the game has seen public light. Reportedly a short gameplay video was shown to journalists, but said footage has not been found again.
