Pirates of the Caribbean Armada of the Damned

Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned was a planned game based on Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise, developed by Propaganda Games, and published by Disney Interactive Studios, It was to be a action-adventure role-playing game for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. As well as being the first attempt to create an open world video game based on Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise, it was planned to be released in February 2011, however it was later cancelled in October 2010.

Why it was Cancelled[]

  • Propaganda Games was laid off as part of a restructuring program, It reduced the video game developer studio staff by more than 100 people, and thus would lead to the cancellation of the game.

Results[]

  • The game was cancelled.
  • Disney Interactive Studios Instead released Tron: Evolution, developed by Propaganda Games in December 2010, however it failed to attain critical and commercial success.
  • Propaganda Games would later close down in January 2011, months after the game's cancellation.
  • Ubisoft later released Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag in October 2013, which had similar role-playing gameplay elements of this game.
  • The music of the cancelled game would later be reused in Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game, released in 2011, and developed by Traveller's Tales.
