New Space Order was a planned real-time strategy arcade game in development by Namco Bandai Games. The game began development in 2007 and was cancelled in 2009. A short anime series tie-in, New Space Order: Link of Life, was also produced.
The goal of the game
The player, controlling a large fleet of ships, was to conquer surrounding planets by attacking enemy ships with their own. Many of the game's ships were from various games such as Galaga and Bosconian and were to use special weapon types that were based on their original titles.
Why it was cancelled
- Namco Bandai considered the concept of a real-time strategy game too advanced for an arcade game.
- Developers encountered numerous bugs and issues that were very difficult to fix.
