Fighting Force is a 3D Beat'Em Up game developed by Core Design and published by Eidos Interactive in 1997 for the PC and PlayStation and later ported to the Nintendo 64 in 1999 with Crave Entertainment publishing the port. A Sega Saturn version was also planned, but was left unreleased despite being completed.
Why was it cancelled?[]
- Eidos dropped all support for the Sega Saturn due to low Saturn sales of other Eidos games released on the platform.
- Sega Saturn was nearing it's lifespan in the West due to the commercial disappointment of the console.
Results[]
The Sega Saturn version was permanently cancelled.
We just got PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and Windows versions of the game.
Trivia[]
Fighting Force was originally developed as a potential fourth installment of the Streets of Rage series, but Sega rejected this project and would rather have their own plans to continue the Street of Rage franchise themselves, therefore Core Design made this as a complete standalone game.
