Fear & Respect is a 2004 cancelled third-person, open-world sandbox, action-adventure game, that was in the works of the now defunct Edge of Reality, as well as the also defunct Midway Games. It was to be released on the XBOX 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and the XBOX consoles around 2006, and development started on 2004.
It was announced on September 2004 by Midway Games, but they didn't give more info about Fear & Respect, besides the trailer and screenshots of the game, and Fear & Respect‘s writer and director was movie director John Singleton, and it would star Snoop Dogg as Goldie - the main protagonist of the game.
Plot/Goal[]
The player would take the role of Goldie (voiced by Snoop Dogg), a member in a gang who fights to gain respect in LA (Los Angeles), which is currently engulfed in a heat wave during the summer season.
Gameplay[]
The main gameplay of Fear & Respect is similar to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Taking place in Los Angeles, the player would be able to explore around LA.
It would feature a respect system, where if Goldie gains a gang's respect, then that gang will respect him instead of fearing him, and this respect system would probably be needed to progress through the game.
Why it was Cancelled[]
Fear & Respect was cancelled rather silently on March 1st, 2006, though the game was intended to release around 2006, Midway Games gave no information about Fear & Respect's cancellation and what caused it to cancel, so nothing much is known about the cancellation of Fear & Respect.
