Family Guy Video Game is a 2006 3D platformer game released on the Xbox, PS2 and PSP and is based on Fox's Family Guy TV series. The game was meant to have a Nintendo GameCube version as well, but it was cancelled. A listing for the cancelled port can be seen on Best Guy's website, simply under the title "Family Guy", implying that the game was originally titled that. Furthermore, it has the same description as the PS2 and Xbox versions, confirming that it is the same game.[1]

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  • It is unknown why it was cancelled, but it is possible that the GameCube's generally younger demographic could have contributed to the port's cancellation.
  • The fact that the GameCube was the weakest selling out of the 6th generation consoles may have also made the GameCube port of Family Guy Video Game the lowest priority of the planned ports.
  • It is also possible that the reason is that the GameCube is nearing it's end of his life-cycle. Hence the successor (Wii) was releasing the following month

Trivia[]

  • More platforms for the game may have been planned as well, as one article states that the then-upcoming game would be released on the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and PC in addition to Nintendo GameCube, Xbox and PS2. [2] A Softpedia article from only a month before the game's release also supports the claim of a cancelled PC release. [3]
    • The GameBoy Advance and Nintendo DS versions would have required a almost entirely different game to be made, due to the vastly different hardware of those systems. Thus, there may not have been enough time for the two versions.
