De Blob is a puzzle-platform game developed by Blue Tongue Entertainment and published by THQ for the Wii. The game was originally scheduled for a February 2008 release, but was delayed and then released on 22 September for the Wii.
A Nintendo DS version was planned but was cancelled.
Why It Was Cancelled[]
- Helixe got shut down in November 3, 2008, causing the development on DS port to be dropped. The reason was due to THQ's financial straining at the time, as the publisher had also shut down 4 more gaming studios after their original IP games failed to meet sales expectation.
Results[]
- The Nintendo DS version was permanently cancelled.
- The Wii, Xbox One PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of this game were released instead.
- In June 2023, YouTuber RebelTaxi released a debug build of the canceled port with only three stages in from, obtained from an anonymous source.
