Crash Team Racing is a cancelled racing game starring the video game character Crash Bandicoot. It was developed by High Impact Games, a game company that had employees that once worked for Naughty Dog and Insomniac games, the companies that created Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon.
Development[]
High Impact Games began to work on the project presumably around 2009 in hopes of bringing back Crash Bandicoot to the gaming industry. The game was shown at E3 and even some screenshots were released on the Internet, and there is a gameplay video, it would have been released on the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360, and would have been the sister game to the also cancelled Crash Landed game.
Why It Was Cancelled[]
- Activision had just purchased the rights to Crash Bandicoot and forced the game to go into cancellation.
Results[]
- Activision decided to rework the game into an all new racing game called Dreamworks Super Star Kartz starring various animated characters from various Dreamworks movies such as Shrek and Madagascar.
- A full on remaster Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled was released in 2019.
- No Crash Bandicoot game was released for the PS3 apart from the SkyLanders Crash Edition Starter Pack for the PS3 and PS4.
- Crash: Mind over Mutant was the last Crash game released for the Wii and Xbox 360.
- Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2 for IOS was the only Crash game released in 2010.
